Wildfire Evacuation

Wildfire Evacuations

Folks from rural Clackamas County including Colton spent several days and nights in the parking lot of Willamette Falls Studios. They were evacuated from the several fires that raged in September 2020. The staff of Willamette Falls Studios took turns keeping the building open 24 hours so people could use the restroom and warm up, since the thick smoke made for cold gray days. A portable wash station was delivered by the city and the evacuees were able to use the Oregon City Swimming Pool across the street for a much appreciated shower. Even though they were camped out in an asphalt parking lot and not knowing what the fire would destroy, people’s spirits remained high, dogs chased balls and the cutest kids ever visited goats that were displaced too.
